Howard, where the chrome coating flaked off it left the inner plastic clear, no etching. There are some spots still stuck and I'm not sure how I'll get those off so that whatever I end up using will be consistent.

Has anyone tried vinyl wrap film? I can get a small sample cheap on amazon to try, but obviously it is made to stick on an exterior surface so I'm wondering how shiny the adhesive side is.
