Any idea if this is an early or later '56 tranny?

Just like vehicle number and Utica plant engine numbers the transmission numbering began at 1001.

No idea about the "3", the attached photo of the rear of the case is typical of what I see on Twin Ultras, this one for a Caribbean (prefix "C"), I have guessed that the initials are those of the employee assembling the unit, but maybe not. The other set of numbers likewise unknown to me but Ross has probably seen more of these than the rest of us combined, perhaps he has some insight.
