I was thinking of your DD problem and some running changes made. If bushings are worn then the problem may be explained but there were some pump rotor and passage changes too. If someone without access to service articles changed a front pump or rotor on the 54 trans and accidentally closed a passage it could be a reason the DD doesn't work. The entire pump change probably not likely although they did introduce a modified 56 pump to retrofit to 54s when original stock ran out.


I know you mentioned reading thru the bulletins but you might want to look carefully at SC 30 #5 and see if Ross thinks it is a possibility. Just to be safe I would compare both old and new trans to verify the DD passage has not been blocked previously or will not be blocked with the bellhousing change.
