Looking good! On the distributor and starter, did you bead blast? What kind of media did you use, and how much pressure/how big of a compressor did you use?

Good luck on the motor! If you look back at the blog on my 115c (now sold), mine also fought me, but at the end it ran smooth and quiet with no leaks. You're going about it right, you'll get there.
