thanks for the ears guys! I plan to check all my gaps again, obviously one or more are a bit too wide.

hooked up the clutch tonight, which required some tlc. the holes in the linkage arm were wobbled out and the arms themselves were looking pretty sad. whipped out the welder and fixed it all up. I used washers with the cotter pins to take out more slop.

I was also able to line up the alternator a bit better, not 100% perfect, but we will see how much it complains when I get the car really running.

down draft tube and exhaust hanger mounted. exhaust will be getting replaced when the car gets rolling, its in sad shape.
