The Duchess came through with flying colors for the Concours weekend.

The cooling system and clutch got a work out going to PDX to pick up Emi, my 11 year old granddaughter from SFO. It's a normal 35 minute freeway drive. It took us 2-1/2 hours of stop-and-go freeway traffic. We were only a few minutes late. Southwest kept her at the gate until daughter Molly collected her.

8am we left for Forest Grove and the start of the wine tour. My first Saturday pre-concours wine country tour was a ton of fun. Lots of cars, especially Packards. About 2-1/2 hours of actual touring the Oregon countryside. I brought my neighbors, daughter and granddaughter, top up foirst half, down second.

At the Abbey Farm winery I received an award for American cars on tour longest owned in one family. 60 years just for myself. I didn't have to pull out the big guns, my step-dad bought the Duchess in 1948. All on tour received a special ribbon that was a plus for judging on Sunday.

Once again I was surprised to win 3rd place, much as I drive her, 10,500 miles since last year's concours.

While 120 years of Packard was the featured marque this year, all brands were well represented, but in the end Jim and Mary Lou Harri from Walla Walla, WA took Best of the Show with their '34 Packard 1107 Conv Sedan V-12.

Donald Osborne (Jay Leno's garage fame) and Nic Waller (Pebbles Beach emcee) presided.
