It doesn’t usually take me all day to assemble a fuel pump as it did today but I thought I had gotten it all cleaned and ready the last time I was here. Instead I found it full of old oil where the arms are and the solvent tank is currently inaccessible so i did the best I could with aerosol carburetor cleaner and engine degreaser.

Also, the new kits I have look well-made but the valves are a press fit so I have no idea how it will ever be taken apart again! I had also misplaced the bowl and its bolt but had one handy on the pump from the parts car. Not a great cosmetic job as the goal now, which is actually a rush, is just to get the car to be drivable enough to move outside and back in under its own power.

I also looked over the shifter assembly to put it back in but it was getting late and chilly by then and I could not locate the photos I had taken for the lever orientation so came back the block to the house where I could find them at my leisure, which I did.
