Had SU's on my old '65 Austin Healey Sprite MkIII. They'd be synced for about a minute, and then unbalanced again. I rebuilt the carbs of course, linkage, provided new bushings in all the shafts, took months of working on it (and I was only 23 at the time. Oh, geez. That's 40 years ago now....)

I finally put on a $50 swap-meet Weber and really woke up that little engine. Night and day difference. Sold the SU's with the car and a pile of spares, in case someone wanted to return it to an ill-running original.
