The balance valve for the wiper motor looks like it is on the firewall. If it is still hooked up properly one of the hoses on the long side of the valve will be connected to an unported always on vacuum source coming directly from the carb or the manifold. The other hose will be coming from the aux vacuum pump in the crankcase if the engine is still stock.

Use the hose coming from the manifold or carb port and attach the vacuum gauge to the hose or to the metal tube the hose connects to which should be visible and clamped to the head. Plug any open ports on the valve to prevent vacuum leaks.
