Ok alternator is finally in place. I needed to swap the pulley for the one on the older unit. The alternator location is a bit different now, so I really need a belt that is slightly shorter as I am pretty much at the end of the adjustment. But its currently tight enough not to slip.

I also used the rear bracket bolt to hold a clamp to wrangle the road draft hose.

It's putting out 14.68 volts on startup.

I let it run in the garage for a while and never got the too of the radiator over 161f.

Once it was warmed up I checked to see how the heat shield was working.

622f on the collector, 122f on the outside of the shield. So pretty effective. I may extend the shield a bit lower as I was getting some rising heat from below where the shield stops that is warming up the master cylinder a bit more around the brake switch. No horribly, but enough that a small modification should remedy it.
