Re: Don’s 1937 (120) 138CD Deluxe Touring Limo

It was really good to see Dad excited about the car again. He’s gotten emotional a couple of times as I’ve made progress on the car. I think part of that was him believing he wouldn’t be able to ride in it again. He uses a walker and has to be able to get right up to the seat to get in. He can do that without steps with our modern SUV. The running boards on the 1937 don’t allow for that.

As I was building the platforms yesterday and today, I was hopeful, but still nervous. If this hadn’t worked, I’m not sure what else I could do.

It worked out better than expected. He was able to go up the steps without much problem. He can go up taller steps, but it’s a process of using a chair on the step to sit down, then turn, then stand….repeat for the next step. Fortunately, we didn’t have to do all that.

With this, I may delay some things I want to get done on the car as a top priority is going to be getting Dad out in it as much as I can this season. The other things can wait until winter. In the meantime, there are still plenty of other little things I can do that won’t result in lengthy down time of the car.

This is my motivation….”payback”..
