Today I spend too much time underneath both cars getting them prepped for next weeks trip.

I've been having some vibration when taking off from a stop on the '37. I discovered the cause. Both the front and rear u-joint bolts were loose, and backed out. The fronts are missing the sheet metal lock tabs. So I'll have to locate a set of those.

The rear has the lock tabs, but they were not in use. So the rears, I torqued down the bolts and bent the lock tabs over. Just more evidence that I need check every bolt on car for proper tightness and missing lockwashers, cotter-pins and locking tabs. Assume nothing.

Since I am missing the tabs on the front you joint, and probably not going to be able before find them before I leave on Wednesday morning, I figured some lockwashers and blue locktite will have to suffice for now.

Also, I greased the slip yolk. It took way more grease then I had expected.

Also, for some reason the diff was low on fluid. Not sure why as I drained it and refilled it last year. There is no evidence of a leak anywhere on the diff or out back of the backing plates.

It was very cold when I changed it before. Perhaps it was so cold that it wasn't flowing that well and I thought it was fuller then it was. Who knows? But it's for sure full now.

Also the leaky shocks near more fluid again and so did the leaky steering box.

Who needs a chassis lubricator system, when you have leaky shocks/steering box and a Jaguar motor. Not a lick of rust!
