Nice start, keep it up and keep us updated. I remember the suggestion about using a heat gun to judge the condition of the water distribution tube; my 2 cents worth says for the cost of a water ump gasket which you could easily make. I'd pull the pump and the tube and inspect it directly. If you have the time, you also might pull a core plug or two and flush vigorously.
