Wonder what that bumper would look like in two tone until the time came when you could afford to shell out half the national debt. If the top would polish out decently and you fixed and filled to smooth the rust and then masked down the middle or just below middle and did something like a Spectra Chrome or Future Chrome spray process on the bottom portion it might not look terribly bad. Even doing the lower portion in something darker to complement a body color might look decent.

From the photos, either process might be tolerable on the entire bumper. Of course it wouldn't match any other nearby chrome so that might be a non starter. SpectraChrome looks like it wants to go thru dealers but there might be something at a nearby body shop. They do have a very inexpensive training class though and it sounds like they take DIYers. Future Chrome offers a DIY kit on their website.

No idea on durability but if anyone has used the process it would be interesting to hear the comments. Of course, there is also the standby rattle can silver paint that would look better than a big blob of rust.
