Re: 51Packard's....51 Packard

Thanks HH56 and BigKev! The pics are very helpful.

Seems like I have a bit of a hybrid system. My pump looks like the one HH56 found in the training manual (didn't think to look there!). That shows a solid line connection to the pump. My old vacuum line is shaped just like the one in the picture. The rest of my vacuum lines are the same as BigKev shows in his restored pics. Maybe a change from 51 to later years?

I went with the solid line for this part. My tube bender did not allow me to make such a sharp bend so my angles are a little different, but the end points are in the same position as the old line so I should be OK there. I will cut the line to length later.

Another difference I see is that I have a rubber line coming out the right bottom side of the pump where there is some large thing attached in the training book pic (maybe a filter) with a solid line connected. Not sure what that is. Maybe that piece was missing from my pump so they added a rubber line? The fitting looks the same as BigKev has on his pump, but on the left side instead.

Another thing I have realized is that my carb is not restored to proper condition. BigKev, your carb looks tons better than mine! Did you paint yours and if so, what did you use?
