Well, the good news is that I appear to have the correct pump. According to the parts manual, the water pump body for 24th, 25th, 26th and 54th series is # 419592, which is what is on my pump. I guess the shaft is out of whack. My car never overheated and I did not take the pump apart because the slotted screws were really stuck in there. My hub has an indent where the shaft comes in so packardtaximan is probably right, that the hub is not on the shaft all the way. Should I smack it with a rubber mallet? Maybe just leave it? I do not have a press and if I did, I would probably crack the pump body. Leaning toward just leaving it.
