Thanks Dan - I've attached another picture from a different angle. The licence plate on the back came with the car (Texas 1972). Having a pattern for the wood to work from would be the best. I guess its just trial and error otherwise. I wasn't sure what the roof wood was supposed to look like until I saw pictures of a couple of "barn finds" on eBay that showed the exposed roof. My roof will have to be redone because the attempt by a previous owner is not very good. It would be great if others on this site who have experience with repairing and replacing wood components would share some tips and pictures.

How far along are you. Are you ready to post some pics?
