I Used a different method. Used a Hayden clutch fan as used on later cars with a thermostat controlled clutch fan. Al that was needed for my Clipper (Supercharged Studebaker V8) was cut down end of water pump shaft diameter to size of clutch fan.
The shaft didn't need to be cut all the way back do to angle cut in clutch Can still reinstall stock spacer and fan. the fan and clutch were chosen from Hayden catalog which has all needed dimensions of fan such as diameter bolt circle etc. With clutch and fan together fan blade center was at correct location on the HD radiator shroud I had installed . In my case the stock 4 blade fan was larger diameter than Heavy duty fan with 6 blades.
Advantages are better cooling with less noise from fan when not needed due to thermostat controlled clutch
