Oh wow! “the Little Giants” was a great film and very informative for this novice wrench. Had no idea what a Hotchkiss was! Wonderful to see them break down why the L-head and straight 8 is by far a superior balanced engine to the V8’s, but I’m sure Packard’s V8 were better than the others.
I also didn’t realize that the valves in the 327 are angled slightly to achieve a more optimal combustion area, I presume. I didn’t pay attention to every detail, I mean I had to scrap my jaw off floor at some point ya know. Crazy that I’ve had this engine for almost a decade and I didn’t know why it was so good!
A favorite part might’ve been the explanation of the inferior “PING” of the in-valve heads 🤣🤣🤣
