So I ordered that "Steel Hex Bar, 5/16" Wide, 3 Feet Long" from the McMaster-Carr website and it arrived today. As a precaution, I ordered 3' as it was less cheap.
I'm glad I got the longer length as it took a full 13" just to reach the top of the block. I cut it at 18", leaving me with 5" above the distributor hole as shown below.
So if anyone is interested I have an extra, custom made one of kind, Packard/Oldsmobile Oil Pump, priming tool. It can be yours for $200.
