If memory serves, for the actual support the splasher bolts to the inner fender splashers on either side of the radiator cradle via the 5 holes at the rear (arrows) and nothing support wise is to the bumper bars. For those holes, there should be some large sheet metal type bolts that come up from the bottom into some speed nuts.

For anything that might be in front you could look at the bumper itself or the bars for small fairly thin bent tabs. I think there may be a nut and bolt which goes thru the holes in the front of the splasher (circles) into the tabs and are just vibration suppression. If it does bolt, that can be done after the bumpers are on.

56 has a rubber lip as a gravel shield in the depressed center section, I think held by staples, that lightly touches the inner bumper but I don't know if that was on the 55.
