Now is your golden time to clean the gages inside and out and to carefully lubricate the speedometer and the trip odometer reset cable.

Do yourself a favor for long into the future and paint the back of your dash white. Then install your gage cluster and switches. Now you can easily stand at your workbench and wire up the whole thing and make the wires lay nicely.
