To save freight charges you can often buy a bit of door panel cardboard or the modern PVC replacement at a local upholstery shop. That stuff is about 1/8 thick and is water resistant. It will work for the inside partition and the back panel. On the flapper valve you can use the same stuff or make a metal plate to replace the original cardboard piece. Make the plate just a bit smaller than needed for the opening then fasten a piece of heavy felt to that which is large enough to overlap the opening a bit to provide the seal.
