You should not need to do anything except install the tank. Anything else and it needs to go back.

If you mean the fuel outlet port, that should be near the filler tube side in a fitting located about halfway up the side of the tank but facing forward. The fitting is for a 5/16 inverted flare nut and the tube. A drain port should be on the same side but near the middle at the bottom on the side.

Here is a photo Ross posted some years ago showing the tank inside. You can see where the outlet line is positioned and where it exits the side and the drain port near the bottom.
