Made new seals out of an inner tube and rebuilt my air vent flappers. Managed to reuse the staples without breaking any, so that was good.

I bought a used oil pan and a pan for the Ultramatic, to replace my bashed in ones. I cleaned up the transmission pan and found that it had had a hole welded, and the weld looked a little sketchy on the outside, like maybe it hadn't penetrated fully. Easy to check, I hit it with some dye penetrant spray and let it sit for 15 minutes, then cleaned it off and hit it with developer. All good, no cracks indicated. Now I just need to gently clean up some little dings and give it a coat of paint. So the next question is, what color were the transmissions painted? Engine color (gray) or something else?
