I have been tinkering with some more electric gremlins and stumbled upon my non working license plate light. Some previous
owner bodger rammed a replacement socket into the socket
(unfortunately I didn't take a picture), but the light was not working anyway. So I took it out and took care of it. Just a tiny little drainage hole blocked combined with no gaskets at all lead to a non functional license plate light.
after cleaning off the not so protective undercoating revealing the bubonic plague: Ferric oxyde ...

after some short sand blasting
cut out the worst bits
and weld some new bits in
Next step will be sheradizing the housing for a better future rust proofing and a lick of paint.
