It is better to keep the coil feed separate. I am not saying it will happen on your car but there are some cases a voltage feedback thru another component can occur. If the coil and the other component are on the same terminal the feedback could still get to the coil and the engine would keep running when you turned the key off. With the separate feed, when the ign key is off the contact inside the switch to both terminals is broken so any feedback cannot reach the coil.
