Henry,
The stove pipe on the V8 is straight thru the manifold, and open on the bottom, so air enters underneath, heats up on the way out to the carburetor. Or that's how it appears to me.

This one on the 37 looks like a closed system. It doesn't seem to be able to draw outside air. Is that a fair statement.

Maybe I don't understand how this system is supposed to work. To the books.
