trans from 36 car had huge hole in side....thought it made a good demo of the gears from the side.

I took the top off of the trans that came out of the car...you can see (circled red) why I was having so many issues with the trans. reverse and 1st looked like poop. synchros look okay....so no idea why it would grind in 2nd along with knocking noise. doesn't matter...new trans was up next

I got around to taking apart the trans that I received from Flackmaster. good chance for me to understand how it works and to clean it all up. new bearings and seals, etc.

needle bearing showed pitting, so I'm really glad I took it apart.

will make my own seals for the trans itself....I already have material, although a bit thicker. 1/32" if not...order it

I used an old motors manual I got from my Grandfather. it was very helpful in labeling each part of the trans for people like me that have no clue.

I pushed out the counter shaft and follow the repair manual step by step.

trans and gears in witch's brew to degrease. while other parts that were soaking have been washed and are ready for paint.

as long as rear end is 4.54, then speedo gear is correct ratio.

had to buy a cheap 1-1/4" socket to grind down to fit on the 115 output shaft nut. the flange was too small for my normal 1-1/4" socket and its craftsman so I wasn't going to grind on that. I tapered the socket and it fit perfectly. my craftsman socket fit fine on the 120 flange.
