the chain that came from Kanter was too wide for the gears and I didn't like it. no offense. the "guides" don't even touch the gears when you center the chain.

my old chain hugs the gears and the "guides" are nice and tight to the gear sides. it didn't look worn out at all and the gears showed very minimal imprinting. if I had no choice, then I would use the chain that came with the kit. plus I didn't want to wait for the crank gear to come in the mail. I'm on vaca and I want to move forward.

I was always taught that if the chain touches itself when laid down then its bad. if it doesn't touch and holds shape then it is good. my old one still holds shape and all the links look really good.

I think this old one will last far longer then I'll be around.

I'll keep the new one around if it really comes to that. at least there is an option to have one vs not driving the car.

its gonna get driven. that was the point of doing this...to make it more reliable. I plan on making the money back with photo shoots, etc etc etc.
