thanks alot! i'm feeling better about the show, well until i put the hood on last night and i knicked the paint a time or two and one of the damn side inserts popped off. That hood is a TOTAL PITA to get back on!!! HOLY ##$# I hope I NEVER have to take it off again!

you can see why the one insert fell off.....I had not had a chance to look over the hood inserts yet and i knew one or more were goofy, but man...they did a number on slapping that one back on didnt they? geesh!

hopefully i can get it back on. the tabs at the bottom of the hole in the hood are broken off...the top ones are there..so i see why they glued it all in, but they could have used less. the driver's side inserts have all the slats, but some are crooked and broken on one side. the passenger's side is not so lucky...it has missing slats on some of the inserts. bummer.

I had not got to checking the spark plugs since i still have a miss for some reason. My dad stopped by last night and we pulled the plug wires one at a time and listened to the motor. we found out that number 1 and number 8 were no buenos.

pulled all of the plugs and cleaned them up and gapped them to 30 from 28 and put them back in. switching 7 and 8 around to see if the problem followed. it did not. All 8 are now firing.

I think i may have had an issue with grounding from the paint on the head. i will probably pull the plugs again and make sure to check the threads in the head for paint.

dad played with the carb a bit, but we could not get the stumble to go away when blipping the gas. come to find out where the accelerator pump linkage connects to the throttle shaft is wobbled out. so when you pull the gas it does not start to push in the accelerator pump until way too late. unless i'm wrong and that is how it is made...but i doubt it. seems like something they should have fixed when i sent in for restoration.....which i still have not heard anything back from them. its not like i'm ever needing to "rev" the motor like some hot rod and it does drive fine normally.

and as you can tell...i have some MAJOR cleaning to do
