The oil lines are a neat install. They appear to follow the late 1948 SC but am curious if anyone knows how long that implementation was in effect. Wonder if they did it that way on all solid lifter cars or if it just went to the early 49s until the optional hydraulic lifters became more the standard.

At some point they changed the early routing thru the filter and then to the lifters. By at least 51 it appears those 288/327 blocks had gone full flow to lifters all the time with the bypass to the filter. That was done by reinstating use of the small curved pigtail and using a 4 way fitting on the lower port. Filtered oil was dumped into the crankcase via a port on the lower edge of block.

The low flow after the filter was OK for solid lifters but much like the 356 engines they found issues on cars with hydraulic lifters as the filters got dirty.
