Okay, I got the wires replaced and inserted some pins. Next I braded the ends, don't look to good but I think it will hold.
I used the smallest pop rivets to hold the unit together and mashed the ends down a little more.
Checked it on the bench and electrical checkout checks good, mechanical checkout checks good. ready to be put back in.
I'm calling this done.
