That is interesting because the 3 wire switch was used thru the 22nd series and while 23rd series 49 turn signal switches would look similar, they should be electrically different. According to the diagrams, that is the first year Packard had brake lights go thru the switch. Instead of the separate rear turn signal bulbs, 23rd and later series use the same bulb for brakes and turn signals. Those would need the 6 wire switch. I wonder if there was some kind of delay with turn signal changes just as there was when they made the R11 OD changeover after a few months production of the 22nd series. Does your car have one or two bulbs in the rear tail light housing?
