Not really. Heated with a torch . I did media blast the cover to get it clean.

With the torch put black on the area. Then heated till it was gone. Then started building.

I was also thinking of putting a piece inside. But then a guy who teaches body shop said it can be welded.

Then I used a file and cutter in a drill to clean it up.

Have to look for pictures..might be on my blog.


Edit.

Between welds used a stainless brush and alcohol. And did not touch it ..after that. No hands.

Alcohol was in a squirt bottle.
