That does help shed some light on it and thank you for the research. The existing transmission did indeed come from an earlier model which can be seen in the threaded side mount holes but oddly it also has the holes and pad for the single rear mount that started in 1951.

It was in a different 1951 Henney-Packard when I bought it and as this 1951 Henney-Packard was its parts car, its proper R11 transmission was donated to the other. Both were short so it’s not possible that the new one is the proper length when it’s 28” and the one from this car was 21” but I won’t know for sure until I try to install the driveshaft and see how much space there is for the transmission.
