Re: Resurrecting a 1951 Henney-Packard Parts Car

I finished cleaning up the wheels yesterday but have reservations about one of them due to rust on the inside of the valve stem hole. I am not sure where this wheel came from as several were purchased from different sources a few years ago but it probably sat with a flat tire for a long time with the stem in the downward position so water got in with nowhere to go and caused the corrosion. The tires and wheels are now in town being mounted and balanced (I hope) and I asked them to use a sealer on the edges and around the stem but another wheel is on the way from Tucson Packards as I need a fifth anyway as the spare or in case I need it.

I purposely did not paint the wheels even in primer because I thought it was like putting lipstick on a pig! The rest of the car is so rough that they would stand out like sore thumbs. For the same reason, it is getting a nice but very (lighted) pitted cormorant rather an NOS one that I have.
