Re: Resurrecting a 1951 Henney-Packard Parts Car

I pulled the governor from the parts transmission but it has no numbers that I can find so possibly an aftermarket replacement. Its gear and shaft are different yet from the other two but, as the entire tail and overdrive assembly are different, I am sure that this is not the proper one and that it’s the pre-1951 type that I need. I also have an NOS one somewhere, probably with the solenoid, but neither is anywhere to be found and I’m not sure which type it is.

This time I remembered to bring out my propane torch from the house (my mother uses it to light the pellet stove) and it did the trick in getting off the rear shift arm. It still took a lot prying, then when it was out too far to pry, some hammering but eventually it came off! I’ve never encountered those so tight before and they are tight on the other shafts too. It needs to be cleaned up before I can install it which I’ll do tomorrow after I refill the propane tanks.
