Hi everyone and let me introduce myself with my new car to the forum. Some time ago i did buy 1937 Packard Super 8 Formal Sedan 1501 in the Califronia. It took a while to bring this car in to the Russia.
Small long story of the car:
Originally owned by a banker in Los Angeles who joined the Army and was stationed at Alamogordo, NM where the atomic bomb was developed. He took the car there and the Army talked him into selling it to the Army as a staff vehicle to pick up high level people at the train station etc. After the war was over, Dick Wetisel who grew up near the bank in LA and saw the car coming and going, tracked the car down by its VIN, and found it was being auctioned by the government . He purchased it and drove it home to Los Angeles from NM. He then started on a 25+ year long restoration. In 1991 Dick Waightnight purchased the car from Wetisel and after finishing the restoration took the car to Pebble Beach and won 3rd in class in 1995. The car was also shown at a CCCA event and awarded Premier Senior National First Prize. The car was then sold to the fouth owner in 1996. In the 2019 i bought that car from one of the west coast classic car specialists, what had it on sale.
I took seven months to deliver that car to the Moscow, Russia. It spent few months in the californian port and that longlasting rest damaged the paint. Then it flows another 2 or 3 months in the container on the ferry over the half of the world.
