Lots of questions this evening.

finally got the oil pan off. found some sludge in the bottom. not as bad as I would have thought.

found a little pin in the bottom though. 1/4" dia. and about 3/8" long. see photo.
any ideas where would this have come from?? and is there a greater concern to be had??

oil pan is pretty beat up, looks like it was brazed at some point, I expect attempting to straighten it is not a good idea? so I will have to replace it when and if I can find someone up here to rebuild the motor.

anything else I should do or be looking at before I clean up the pan and re install it?
any tips or tricks for removing the old gaskets? they are stuck on there something fierce.

as I take parts off I try to clean them up best I can prior to storing them away. should be no concerns there no? should I put a little oil in the power steering pump when I put it way? will be ordering a rebuild kit for in in the future. will look for kits for the other Bendix power steering items.

question, (one of Many, Sorry) the return hose.........just clamps to hold it together? what would be the proper length? as when I pulled it off it was not routed beside the pressure hose. I am concerned it might have been shortened.

the idler arm........does it come apart? and how? it seems quite loose, can it be tightened? or rebuilt? I don't see much info on it in the manual.

my apologizes for being long winded this evening.
