This happens over the years but it also seemed that Packard often pulled whichever brand they had available. Also, check the tags on the components to see if they are even the proper ones for any Packard or Clipper. Other makes and models of parts may fit but not be the ones that go to the car.

One other thing you could do is to look at the engine number to see if it's the same as the number on the VIN plate on the door jamb. The engine number is stamped on top of the block slightly behind the thermostat housing. It is on a flat boss facing straight up that may have collected dirt and grime over the years so might require some wire brushing to read it. If different, it will tell you that the entire engine had been replaced and the first four digits will tell you which engine it is.
