Howard, happy to report that was the tank terminal, and with the runtz attached to the other terminal, it works. I do find it interesting it works backward than what I was expecting. When the tank wire is missing (open circuit), it reads Full. When given straight ground, it reads empty.

So if the tank wire goes bad or the tank ground is bad, it always reports you have a full tank!

I tried to install the replacement toe board. It was a no-go. Compared to the rusty one removed from the car, you can see where the bottom was trimmed, and the middle hump flatten, and another hump was created more to the right to work around a bulbous part of the bell housing on the Jag motor. The metal on the one that came out is pretty thin and Swiss-cheesed, so I'll have to modify the replacement to fit. Hindsight is 20/20, so I know what it needs to look like. I think when they were trying to get the Jag motor to fit, they just went at it until it did. So I use a little more planning with my changes and perhaps cut and weld in some patches vs. just hammering out the shape, which distorted the bottom edge severely. Also, I think the metal got pretty thin from being stretched so much, and that contributed to the rust-through.

Here is also a shot that shows the Packard tranny matted to the Jag bellhousing and clutch.

I'm pretty sure then the floor shifter sits a little further forward than the original.

One more thing a accomplished today was reinstalling the door molding with the stainless screws and cup washers I was able to source. While not chrome as original, it's close enough. The moldings will eventually go out for wood graining as well. So they were just painted dash structure to clean them up for now.
