Re: Don and Rachel's 1937 1095 120CD and 1098 Coupe Projects

Today I worked on the 1098 Coupe. I am going to use the rebuilt motor, Trumpet horns, New wiring harness (From Rhode Island),Gas tank, and the Drive Shaft for our Sport Coupe. I have all those parts unrestored to go back on the Bus coupe in exchange. However I have determined the frame on the bus coupe is not up to par. Its a northern car and it has pits and rust-out areas on the running board supports. So I will be changing that out also. The front shocks are from a later Packard I am guessing without cross referencing the numbers from maybe a 47-48. (I have a picture of one down on this post) So they are to be discarded. (not thrown away of course). I had to go in and out today to take off parts as it was off and on raining but got enough done to cross off my to do list. I am using the motor from the 1098 but I have a manifold set that the porcelain is good on both which is rare to find. So I took that off the motor prior to pulling it. 30 years ago I broke a exhaust manifold pulling a motor so I probably would have taken it off anyway before yanking the motor out.

Parts I have bought in the last month for the Business Coupe

1. Complete hood
2. Both front inner fenders
3. Grille shell
4. Trunk lid (I thought that was going to be tough but was not)
5. Seat

The car is at 95% complete we only need now

1. 1 Bumper guard
2. Both sill plates ( I think they are repo'd)
3. Right side head light lens
4. Deluxe heater (one that came with it is for a 38)

On the Sport Coupe we need

1. Super 8 gear shift knob (found repo $160.00)
2. Bumper step for Rumble seat (found repo $125.00)
3. Radiator for the (Thermo Grille (might be tough)
4. Rumble seat seat springs
5. lots of money
