I have an example of one of these out of my now-scrapped 1956 400 "Rust-mobile". I saved the glove box with the "drink holder" just for grins. If you were stopped at, for example, a Drive In Movie of the era, it might work. Otherwise, you're asking for a wet disaster as Newton's Law of action-reaction works on it when in motion.
