How does the PB housing come loose of the shifter shaft?

To remove the PB unit the transmission must be in Reverse. then you remove the small access plate and you'll see the screw and locknut - remove them and the unit will slide off. IF your PB motor cannot be activated to put in in the Reverse position, use an electric drill to rotate the worm to the R position.

Your "A" series Twin is from a 5640.
