Thanks for the advise regarding the light black coat JeffM. My oldtimer spraypaint guy gave me axactly the same advise. I will do this definitely as it makes sense. I do believe however that this might take some time LOL!

The primer I used is the 2KMS primer recommended by the paint company. I am not sure about the application onto bare metal, but they recommended it at the paint shop so I have to trust them.

There is still a long way ahead before the final top coat andI can only work on it on weekends. I am just glad that it is covered in primer as we are having out wet rainy season with thundershowers every afternoon. That spurred me on to at least get the primer on.
