Re: Packard Serial Numbers for 1958

I wish folks would stop propagating the myth that the 58 Packard is a rebadged Studebaker. The whole point of the Merger was to get Economies of Scale. Nance worked on the idea or concept of one Platform for the three cars, Packard, Clipper and Studebaker for 1958. Ultimately, They didn’t have the money for a new platform. So the Packard Clipper shared with Studebaker and no Senior cars were produced.

Calling the car “rebadged” is like saying Pontiac is a rebadged Chevy or a DeSoto is a rebadged Plymouth or a Buick is a Rebadged Oldsmobile. They shared a platform. Very little of the outer body Sheetmetal is the same as a Studebaker. Only the Green House.
