57 vacuum pump

There is a question on AACA asking about a rebuilder for a vacuum pump for 57 Packard. I don't recall hearing of one being on car and didn't see a mention in parts or service manual so asked if he meant supercharger.

Brings up a question: Wipers were electric & parts book show brake booster directly to manifold. With the supercharger was there enough manifold vacuum to run the brakes reliably or did they have or add a pump and I just didn't find info.
