Re: Edmunds Intake

A lot of cars during the 50s used a similar carb. 1955 Buick for instance. The mounting flange is the same on a 2G Rochester style carb which is a lot easier to find rebuild and tune in a multiple carb system, this is what Chevy had on the 348 and 409 3x2 intakes. I have 2 similar carters that I was kicking around the idea of using on mine, from what I have been led to believe was the intention of Edmunds for the intake in question. You will be CFM limited however. The 2G carb can be had in 350 CFM ratings new from sources like Summit Racing so with 2 you would be around 700 CFM which is a bit on the high side for an L8 in my opinion but with someone who knows how to tune carbs they can be made to work. The carter has the period correct look so if that is what you are going for you will be fine or if you want a bit more performance and a much easier time working with them go with the 2Gs.
