It's your car, do what you want. BUT, IF you wanted to stay with a Packard drive line, have you contacted the Packard regional clubs near you? They can be found on the PAC website. You never know what maybe out there.
If I'm looking at the map right, you are north of Reno? We had a PAC national meet there, so I'm guessing there are Packards around.
